For sale Vintage original 1930s HAMILTON Art Deco salmon/pink/copper Diamond Dial paired with an updated modern Japan quartz movement. The watch dial is an original and authentic Hamilton diamond dial with a very elegant and classic art deco design with clear stones marking the 12,3,6 and 9 hour. A reliable modern Japan made quartz movement has been added and has been serviced and is running perfect. A stunning chocolate brown original crocodile two piece watch strap has been added for added beauty. The long slightly faded curved modern gold tone case has been sourced to house the vintage dial and the modern Japan quartz movement. This upcycled watch would be a fine addition to any vintage or modern wardrobe. In the 1930s these Hamilton Diamond Dials with matching mechanical movements were sent out to American watchmakers adding these dials and movements to expensive platinum and solid gold cases from special order customers. These watches were called “Jobbers” Today platinum and solid cases with original movements and these SAME diamond dials would cost $1,500-$2,000
Back story
Hamilton's 1930s platinum "jobber" watches were luxury Art Deco pieces made during the Depression, featuring sleek designs, precious metals (platinum/gold), innovative movements and often co-branded dials for jewelers, representing a pinnacle of American watchmaking for the wealthy amidst economic hardship. These weren't typical mass-market watches but special orders, showcasing Hamilton's quality and ability to cater to sophisticated tastes with smaller, stylish cases.
* The "Jobber" Context: "Jobber" watches, especially in platinum or gold, were often made for specific jewelers (jobbers/dealers) or as special commissions, meaning lower production numbers and higher exclusivity, making them rare today. Please note The photo of the assorted watches just serves as a reference to the original watches of the 1930s not the one being listed here. Thank you very much.
